J&K: Shopian encounter kills 5 LeT terrorist, one civilian also dead

The terrorist encounter started on Friday night. The police said some terrorists are still holed up in the area and the operation is going on.

NEW DELHI: The security forces on Saturday continued their search operation after a fresh firing was heard in Shopian’s Killora village in Jammu and Kashmir. An encounter had started between security forces and terrorists in the area, yesterday. The body, which was recovered from the site of the encounter in Shopian's Killora Village last night, has been identified as a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, Umar Malik. The weapon recovered along with him was an AK-47. Today, four more militants were killed and a total five militants killed so far in the encounter. The identities of the slain militants were not immediately known. Internet services have been suspended in the area. Operation continues and more details awaited.
