Army Jawan Missing During Anti-Terror Operation In Kashmir Found Dead
The officer said a massive search operation was launched by police and the army to find the jawan.
The body of an Indian Army jawan who went missing from the forest area of Kokernag in South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Tuesday evening has been recovered, a top police officer said today. The jawan has been identified as Hilal Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Mukdhampora Nowgam in Anantnag.
The officer said a massive search operation was launched by police and the army to find the jawan. The officer further said that investigations are underway to find out how he went missing and what led to his death.
Earlier, in a post, the Chinar Corps of Army wrote, "Based on intelligence input, a joint counter-terrorist operation was launched by Indian Army along with Jammu and Kashmir Police and other agencies in Kazwan Forest Kokernag on 08 October. Operation continued overnight as one soldier of Territorial Army was reported missing. Massive rescue and search operation is in progress."
