Jammu & Kashmir: 20 Pregnant Women, Two Health Workers Among 285 New Covid-19 Cases; Tally Races To 3,142

Seventeen cases were reported from Jammu and include females aging between 07 to 70 - years old. Males who reported COVID positive age between 15 - 55 years respectively.

COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir continue to surge as the state recorded the highest single-day spike with as many as 285 new patients, pushing the tally to 3142. Officials said that over the past six days, J&K reported nearly 1000 fresh cases. Of these, 63 were reported from Jammu while the Kashmir Valley registered 222 cases including 20 pregnant women, two health workers, and several butchers. Elaborating on the cases district wise, the sources said that Kulgam reported 49, Shopian 35, Baramulla 29 and Anantnag 27. Srinagar and Udhampur recorded 25 cases each while Kupwara saw 19 cases. Moreover, Bandipora reported 15 fresh cases, Pulwama 14, Jammu 11 and Budgam 5. Besides this, Ganderbal and Poonch witnessed 4 cases; and Kathua, Samba, Doda and Reasi registered 3. Officials further said that among them, 135 cases were reported at CD hospital laboratory and include the pregnant women from Khanoo Langate, Vilgam, Shartgund, Khumriyal, Hatmulla areas of Kupwara, Drug Teng, Yaangoora and Akhal areas of Kangan ganderbal, Hanfia Colony, Hygam and Hatlangoo areas of Sopore town in Baramulla district. Besides these cases, others include two health workers—one from District Hospital Gandarbal and SDH Sopore, while two butchers from Chee and Sirpora Anantnag. Dr. G H Yatoo, Nodal Officer Coronavirus Control Measures at SKIMS, confirmed  that out of the 1639 samples processed at the viral diagnostic lab today, 31 turned out to be positive for the virus. Moreover, Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, told GNS that among them 19 are from Baramulla, five from Bandipora, three from  Anantnag, two from Srinagar and one each from Kulgam and Kupwara. Dr Riyaz Untoo, Principal SKIMS Bemina, told that out of the 622 samples processed at the hospital’s diagnostic laboratory till Thursday afternoon, 19 resulted positive. They include two from Budgam—30-year-old from Chiara Magam and 61-year-old man from Warihama Magam. Seventeen cases were reported from Jammu and include females aging between 07 to 70 - years old. Confirming the tally, Lt Col Inam Danish Khan said that out of them  29 were from Udhampur, 14 from Jammu, three each from Reasi, Akhnoor, Rajouri, Poonch while one each from Samba and Kishtwar.
