Jammu & Kashmir: Two Army Personnel Critically Injured In Exchange Of Fire With Terrorists In Poonch

He said one Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and one soldier have been critically injured during the ensuing exchange of fire, adding the operations are under progress.

Jammu: Two Indian Army personnel were critically injured in an encounter with the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Thursday.

The PRO Defence said there has been exchange of fire between army troops and terrorists during evening hours today in an ongoing counter-terrorist operation in general area Nar Khas forest in Mendhar sub-division, PTI reported.

He said one Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and one soldier have been critically injured during the ensuing exchange of fire, adding the operations are under progress.

Earlier on Monday, five soldiers, including a JCO, were killed in an exchange of fire with heavily armed terrorists in a forested area at Surankote in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.

Two unidentified militants were earlier on September 26 killed in an encounter with security forces in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier on September 12, an unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with the security forces following a search operation in Rajouri district.

One Army personnel was killed in an encounter that broke out between terrorists and the Indian Army in Thanamandi areaof Rajouri district earlier on August 19. A terrorist was also killed during the operation.

Earlier on August 6, two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Thanamandi belt.
