Jammu-Kashmir: Terrorist Hideout Busted In Handwara, Ammunition And Explosives Recovered

In Jammu and Kashmir's Handwara, security forces discovered a terrorist hideout and recovered a cache of ammunition and explosives. The operation included the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army, and the CRPF.

Police in Jammu and Kashmir's Handwara, along with other security forces, have successfully busted a terrorist hideout in the forest area of Mughalpora Kremhora, recovering a significant cache of ammunition and explosives.

The operation, conducted based on specific intelligence, involved the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army’s 15 RR (Rashtriya Rifles), and the CRPF’s 92 Bn. They carried out a meticulous combing operation in the forested region of Mughalpora Kremhora, under the jurisdiction of Police Post Zachaldara. During the operation, a terrorist hideout was discovered, and a haul of explosives and ammunition, including 10 grenades, was recovered from the site.

The explosives have been safely seized and will be examined further as part of ongoing investigations and legal proceedings.

Jammu and Kashmir: 4-Hour Search Operation In Sidhra Over Suspected IED

In a separate development, the Special Operations Group of the Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a search operation in Sidhra on Sunday, following intelligence reports suggesting that terrorists had planted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the area, news agency PTI reported.

The four-hour-long operation, which took place near the Sidhra bypass, was called off around noon after no explosive material was found. The operation began early in the morning after police received information that an IED might have been planted on the main road adjacent to a famous temple.

A team from the Special Operations Group, accompanied by a bomb disposal squad equipped with metal detectors, combed both sides of the bypass road near Bajalta Morh and the surrounding forest area. Despite a thorough search, no explosives were located, PTI reported.

Jammu and Kashmir: Notorious OGW and Drug Smuggler Detained under PSA, PIT-NDPS Act

A notorious Over Ground Worker (OGW) of terrorists was booked under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Saturday, the police confirmed. Abdul Qayoom, also known as “Punjabi,” a resident of Jajote Kandu village in Darhal, was detained for his involvement in anti-national activities.

According to a police spokesperson, Qayoom was booked under the PSA and sent to jail to curtail his activities, which had been deemed a serious threat to national security, public peace, and stability, PTI reported. Qayoom has been linked to multiple criminal cases registered at Nowshera Police Station in the border district. The police added that his actions had posed a significant risk to internal security and public tranquility. The detention was carried out on the orders of the District Magistrate, Rajouri.

In a separate action, a notorious drug smuggler was booked under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act in Ramban district. Ghulam Nabi, a notorious drug peddler from the Amkoot Chamalwas area of Banihal, was previously lodged in Poonch district jail. A formal detention order was obtained from the competent authority for Nabi’s continued detention.

The PSA is an administrative law that allows authorities to detain individuals without charge or trial for up to two years in certain circumstances.
