Kathua Terror Attack: Massive Manhunt Launched To Nab Terrorists

Soon after the incident, a massive joint search operation was launched on Tuesday to track down terrorists responsible for the deadly attack on an army, officials said, news agency PTI reported.

The administrations have mobilised ground search teams, bolstered by helicopter and UAV surveillance, in their search operation. Sniffer dogs and metal detectors are also being utilised, with a particular focus on densely forested regions.

Officials reported that the army, police, and CRPF have launched a joint cordon and search operation in the areas of Machedi, Badnote, Kindli, and Lohai Malhar, placing a vast region under cordon.

PTI reported sources as indicating that three to four terrorists are believed to be responsible for the attack. This group is also suspected of being involved in the Basangarh attack, where a village defense guard, Mohd Sharief, was killed in an encounter with terrorists on April 28 in Panara village.

In June, security forces detected the movement of a group in the upper reaches of the Bani, Daggar, and Kindli areas of the Kathua district and conducted search operations accordingly.
