Two terrorists were killed by Army troops as the security forces thwarted an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, said the officials on Monday.
The two heavily armed terrorists were killed in a gunfight that broke out late Sunday night in the Laam sector of Nowshera as the troops picked up the movement of a group of terrorists trying to illegally cross the border, reported PTI. Two AK-47s and a large cache of ammunition were recovered from the terrorists, said the Indian Army.
An anti-infiltration operation was launched on the intervening night of September 8 and 9 in the general area of Laam based on inputs from intelligence agencies and police regarding a likely infiltration bid, said Army's Jammu-based White Knight Corps said on X.

The development comes just ahead of the three-phase assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir starting on September 18. The elections are being held for the first time after the revocation of Article 370 and the bifurcation of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
