Jammu and Kashmir: Two militants neutralised in Pulwama encounter; 20 killed in a week

The number of terrorists killed by security forces has reached 20 in a week's time.

New Delhi: Two terrorists have been killed in an encounter that broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama region, taking the number of terrorists killed within a week to 20. The encounter broke out between troops of 50 RR (Rashtriya Rifles) and militants in Khrew area of Pulwama. Additional troops of D/185 Bn, A/130 Bn CRPF and SOG Pampore later joined the op. The operation concluded with troops neutralising 2 local militants. Both the killed militants belonged to Hizbul Mujahedeen. Jammu and Kashmir police informed that two terrorists have been killed in the encounter. Arms and ammunitions have been recovered from them. No collateral damage took place during the encounter. The identities of the terrorists are yet to be ascertained. It is important to note that the security forces have killed 20 militants within a period of a week. On Wednesday, in the encounter that broke out between militants and security forces in Budgam two militants including "most wanted" Lashkar-e-Taiba militant Naveed Jhutt, who was allegedly involved in the assassination of journalist Shujaat Bukhari, were killed, officials said.
