Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi convened security review meetings in response to increased terrorism and cross-border infiltrations.
In response to escalating terror activities and cross-border infiltrations, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi convened consecutive high-level security review meetings on Saturday. The discussions, held at the Raj Bhawan and the police headquarters, were attended by the director generals of the BSF, CRPF, and J&K Police, along with heads of intelligence agencies and other senior security officials.
General Dwivedi led an over-hour-long meeting at the police headquarters, followed by a second session at the Raj Bhawan, news agency PTI reported. This latter meeting, chaired by LG Sinha, took place upon his return from Srinagar. During the session, Sinha, emphasised the need for "meticulous and well-planned counter-terrorism operations" with enhanced synergy among all agencies to eliminate terrorists and their supporters. "We must launch operations with greater coordination to address the threat effectively," the LG stated, as quoted by PTI.
Sinha also instructed that the security grid be fortified further to ensure zero cross-border infiltration. This meeting follows recent terror attacks that resulted in the deaths of nine army personnel, including a captain, in the Kathua and Doda forests on July 8 and July 15.

Earlier, on July 3, the Army Chief had visited the border district of Poonch and reviewed the security situation in Jammu.
