As per reports, the firing was aimed at a cavalcade of vehicles of the security forces in Krishnagati sector.

New Delhi: An army vehicle came under attack by suspected terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch on Friday evening, prompting the security forces to launch a search operation, news agency PTI reported. According to defence spokesperson, details of the incident are being ascertained.

The incident comes just a few weeks after terrorists ambushed two army vehicles killing four soldiers in Poonch. As per reports, the firing was aimed at a cavalcade of vehicles of the security forces in Krishnagati sector on Poonch. The soldiers fired back. There is no report of any death or injury so far.

"At around 1800 hours today, a Security Forces convoy of vehicles was fired upon by suspected terrorists from a jungle near Krishna Ghati in Poonch sector. No casualties to own troops. Joint search Operations by Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police are in progress," White Knight Corps of Indian Army said.

The attack comes as high-ranking officers, including Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Northern Command, are in Poonch to chalk out strategies to deal with frequent terror strikes in the region.
