Jairam Ramesh Attacks Scindia With 'Jhansi Ki Rani' Poem Over 'Traitor' Remark, Minister Quotes Nehru
Congress MP Jairam Ramesh has used lines from the famous 'Jhansi Ki Rani' poem to respond to Jyotiraditya Scindia's 'ideology of traitor' attack at Congress.
Congress MP Jairam Ramesh has taken a 'poetic' route to respond to the 'ideology of traitor' remark by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. In a tweet, Ramesh replaced a few words in the famous poem of Subhadra Kumari Chauhan to attack Scindia, who belongs to the erstwhile royal family of Gwalior.
Ramesh mentioned the Scindia dynasty as the Britishers' 'friend' in the poem, adding that they were made to leave the capital during the freedom struggle. Jairam Ramesh said in the tweet, "Has he forgotten Subhadra Kumari Chauhan's immortal poem on the Rani of Jhansi?"
"Angrezo Ke Mitra Scindia Ne Chhori Rajdhani Thi, Bundele Harbolo Ke Munh Hamne Suni Kahani Thi, Khoob Ladi Mardani Wah To Jhansi Wali Rani Thi," the lines read.

https://t.co/JOz45i574f
Responding to Ramesh's experiment with the poem, Scindia brought up the book of the first Prime Minister of India, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru - Glimpses of World History.
He said, "Read history more and poems less." Quoting Nehru's book, he said, "Thus they (Marathas) had practically inherited the Delhi Empire. The Marathas remained to challenge British supremacy. But the Maratha power went to pieces after the death of Mahadji Scindia. - Nehru in his book ‘Glimpses of World History’"
"The Marathas defeated the British in the South in 1782. In the north, Scindia of Gwalior was dominant and controlled the poor hapless Emperor of Delhi. - Excerpt from ‘Glimpses of World History’," he further tweeted.

The entire development comes after Scinida, in a press conference on Wednesday, launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi and the Congress, alleging that the grand old party has been left with no ideology except one of a "traitor". He said that this works against the country.
Scindia accused the Congress of providing Rahul Gandhi a 'special treatment' following his conviction in the 'Modi surname' remark and 'pressuring the judiciary'. He said that Congress was doing everything possible to stay relevant.
"This party has insulted backward classes, asked for proof of our armed forces' bravery and spoke about our soldiers being beaten up by China," he added.
Scindia told reporters, "The Congress has been left with no ideology. This Congress has been now left with only one ideology which is of a traitor, an ideology which works against the country."
Interestingly, Scinida was associated with the Congress party for a very long time till he changed sides and joined the BJP in March 2020.
