West Bengal Guv Lambastes Mamata Govt, Says He Felt 'Shocked' & 'Shamed' At Attack On Nadda's Convoy

Governor also condemned Banerjee's remark on JP Nadda referring to him as ‘Chaddha, Nadda, Fadda, Bhaddha' in her speech and asked her to withdraw the video comment.

BJP vs TMC: West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday addressed a press conference condemning the attack at the convoy of BJP chief JP Nadda who is a Z category protectee. Slamming the attitude of the Mamata Banerjee government in the state, Dhankar said that “the Chief Minister has to follow the Constitution. She cannot depart from its paths.” He said he has sent a report to the Centre over yesterday’s attack on BJP convoy, but refused to share the content of the report. Castigating the Mamata Banerjee government over the attack, allegedly by TMC supporters, Dhankhar said a dangerous game of insider and outsider is going on in the state. He said it is shameful that such an incident occurred on International Human Rights Day. “I have sent a report to the Central Government about the extremely disturbing developments that do not augur well for democratic values,” Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar said. Emphasizing that the law and order situation in the state has been continuously worsening for long, Dhankhar said “the events that happened yesterday are most unfortunate. They are a slur on our democratic fabric.” Dhankhar went on describe how he had summoned the police chief and Chief Secretary over the incident and they came without any report.  He said he was "shocked" and "shamed". He described the incident as ‘a very painful day in governance.’ It is to be noted that the Ministry of Home Affairs has summoned West Bengal chief secretary, DGP on December 14, day after attack on BJP chief J P Nadda's convoy. Governor also condemned Banerjee's remark on JP Nadda referring to him as ‘Chaddha, Nadda, Fadda, Bhaddha' in her speech and asked her to withdraw the video comment. "I urge Chief Minister  @MamataOfficial to engage in deep reflection and apologetically withdraw this video comment that outrages essence and sublimity of Bengal’s rich culture," he tweeted.

On Thursday, stones were pelted on the convoy of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda, and General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya’s vehicle was ransacked, while the two leaders were on their way to Diamond Harbour to meet party workers for the upcoming Bengal assembly elections in 2021.
