J&K: Two Terrorists Shot Dead In Kulgam Gunfight, Operation In Progress

The encounter broke out at the Nowpora-Kherpora, Trubji area of Kulgam. The operation is in progress with the police and security forces on the job. 

New Delhi: The security forces gunned down two terrorists in Kulgam area of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. “#KulgamEncounterUpdate: 01 more #terrorist killed (Total 02). #Operation going on. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.

The encounter broke out at the Nowpora-Kherpora, Trubji area of Kulgam. The operation is in progress with the police and security forces on the job. 

“#Encounter has started at Nowpora-Kherpora, Trubji area of #Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice,” Kashmir Zone Police wrote on the micro-blogging platform.

Earlier this month, four militants, including two Pakistan nationals, were killed in two separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir.

While two local militants were killed in south Kashmir’s Kulgam, two Pakistani militants were gunned down in north Kashmir’s Kupwara.

A total of 118 terrorists, including 77 from Pakistan sponsored Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and 26 from Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) have been killed in the valley this year, according to the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Out of these, as many as 32 foreign terrorists have been gunned down, police said.

“So far, 118 terrorists including 32 foreign terrorists killed in Kashmir in the current year. Last year in 2021 total of 55 terrorists including 2 foreign terrorists were killed in the same period. Out of 118, 77 terrorists are from Pak sponsored LeT and 26 from JeM outfit," Kashmir Zone Police tweeted earlier.
