J-K CM Omar Abdullah Calls All-Party Meeting On Thursday After Pahalgam Attack

Following an attack in Pahalgam, Jammu-Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has called for an all-party meeting on Thursday.

Jammu-Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has called for an all-party meeting on Thursday. According to news agency ANI, CM Omar tweeted on X that letters have been sent to all the major political parties, honourable members of parliament from Jammu-Kashmir and the leader of opposition in the assembly.

“I write to you with a heavy heart... This is not merely a tragedy for a region or a party—it is a wound upon the very soul of Jammu & Kashmir,” reads the official invitation sent to the senior political leaders, including J&K National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah.

Posting on X, CM Abdullah stated,  “In the aftermath of the attack in Pahalgam, I’ve called an all-party meeting tomorrow afternoon. I have sent out letters of invitation to all major political parties, all honourable members of parliament from J&K & the leader of opposition in the J&K assembly.”

CM Omar said that the meeting is an effort to rise above the political affiliations and unite in the service of the people during the difficult time.

Abdullah has also called for a  special cabinet meeting on Wednesday evening to discuss the Pahalgam terror strike, reports news agency PTI quoting officials. The meeting will discuss the impact of the devastating strike on tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, which was gearing up for the peak summer season, they said. Tourism is the mainstay of the economy in Kashmir, the officials pointed out.

Terrorists opened fire in a meadow dubbed 'mini Switzerland' near the tourist hub of Pahalgam in south Kashmir on Tuesday afternoon, killing 26 people, mostly tourists. It is the worst attack in Kashmir since the Pulwama strike in 2019 when 40 CRPF personnel were killed.
