J&K: 3 Terrorists Gunned Down In Bandipora Encounter, Search Ops Still On

Bandipora: The security forces gunned down three terrorists in an encounter in Aramag-Sumlar area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

The security forces are still carrying on the search operation in the area post the killing of the three terrorists.

“Another unidentified terrorist has been killed in Aragam-Sumlar. A total of 3 terrorists have been killed in the Bandipora encounter. The search operation is on,” the Jammu and Kashmir Police said in a statement.

It was earlier reported that two terrorists’ have been shot dead in the encounter.

The security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area on receiving information about the presence of terrorists in Shokhbaba forest in Sumbalar area of ​​Bandipora in north Kashmir, the officials said.

The terrorists opened fire during the search operation following which the security forces retaliated.

While officials had earlier informed that three soldiers were injured in the encounter, Defense Public Relations Officer (PRO) Colonel Amron Mousavi said that only one Army jawan was injured.

Colonel Mousavi informed that the injured jawan has been taken out of the forest.

The identity of the slain terrorists and to which terrorist organisation they belonged is being ascertained, said officials.

The search operation is still on and further details are awaited.
