Indian Army Tri-Services Press Conference Live: The Indian Army hosted a tri-services press conference today, with senior officials briefing the country on Operation Sindoor. This high-level briefing comes against the backdrop of increased military operations and escalating regional tensions following India's strikes on Pakistan early Wednesday.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, a former Deputy National Security Advisor, addressed the press conference, with Col. Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh briefing the media on Operation Sindoor.

The joint briefing provided insights into the prevailing security environment and outline India’s strategic position. Visuals of the strikes at various terror camps were also shared.

Indian armed forces on Wednesday, May 7, carried out missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, including the Jaish-e-Mohammad stronghold of Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's base Muridke. The move was seen as a retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists.

The name Operation 'Sindoor' is a reference to the red vermillion that Hindu women wear to signify their married status. It has been named so since the husbands of several women were killed in front of them In the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.

The terror attack had triggered widespread outrage in India, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowing to '"break the back of terorrism" and wiping out even the last of land owned by terrorists.

Shortly after Operation Sindoor, the Ministry of Defence issued a statement on 1:44 AM, saying that actions by the Indian armed forces have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature and that no Pakistani military facilities have been targeted.

The statement also noted that  India demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution.

After the operation, India reached out to several leading countries, including the US, Russia, the UK and Saudi Arabia, and briefed them about the military strike on the nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir. The operation is said to have been closely monitored by PM Modi. Meanwhile, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said his country has every right to give a befitting reply to this act of war imposed by India.
