‘India Wants Mamata Di’: TMC’s Unique Campaign To Make ‘Tigress of Bengal’ 1st ‘Bangali’ PM in 2024
“India Wants Mamata Di (IWM) is a community, believing in the ideology of Hon’ble CM of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee and All India Trinamool Congress, the party that she leads,” the website says.
New Delhi: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has launched a campaign in the form of a website named ‘India Wants Mamata Di’ to project West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as the next Prime Minister of India. The move assumes significance as it comes ahead of the 2024 general elections with the TMC intending to make Banerjee the “first ever Bangali Prime Minister” when she completes four decades in electoral politics. TMC leader and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien launched this website on Saturday.
“It’s with immense pleasure that we announce the launching @IndiaWantsMB official website by Hon. @derekobrienmp, AITC RS Leader This is a digital platform for getting updates & insights on @MamataOfficial ’s accomplishments Visit now http://indiawantsmamatadi.com IWMWebsiteLaunch,” India Wants Mamata Di tweeted and the same was retweeted by O’Brien.
“India Wants Mamata Di (IWM) is a community, believing in the ideology of Hon’ble CM of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee and All India Trinamool Congress, the party that she leads,” the website says.
“During the West Bengal Assembly Elections of 2021 which led to the establishment of the AITC led Government for third consecutive time, the whole nation witnessed, how a lady with broken leg on a wheel-chair, stopped the ruthless electoral juggernaut namely Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with all the money power, muscle power coupled with the agencies of the Union Government and a friendly media circle,” the website adds.
The website says “this bitterly fought election, often touted as the toughest election that any political leader fought in recent times in India, showed that her charisma, power, grit and determination makes “Her” indeed the Tigress of Bengal and India as well”.
“She created history being the first woman CM of Bengal, demolishing the 34-years of Left Front rule in the state and making it a hat-trick of winning three consecutive Vidhan Sabha polls with landslide victories,” the website adds.
The website says “not only her stint as CM of West Bengal, she previously served twice as Minister of Railways, the first woman to do so. She is also the first female Minister of Coal, and Minister of Human Resource Development, Youth Affairs and Sports, Women and Child Development in the cabinet of the Indian government”.
Asserting the community was greeted with an overwhelming response after the official appearance on social media with its formal name “India Wants Mamata Di”, the website says: “We have kept on adding new members who have voluntarily signed-up with the community and currently, we have thousands of members from each and every corner of West Bengal, Tripura and Tamil Nadu. Soon we shall extend our units all-over India with the vision and mission to serve the fellow Indians and put forward the ideals of Mamata Banerjee.”
“We wish every Indian enjoys the good governance, as has been established by Madam Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee through her pro-people policies with the aim of holistic development, by making her the first ever Bangali Prime Minister of the Union of India in 2024 when she completes four decades in electoral politics,” the website adds.
The website further says the “community was founded on 1st June, 2021 when West Bengal was reeling under the yoke of Covid-19, a disaster which was second to only Partition”.
“But one thing set Bengal aside from all other states, it was lucky to have the only woman CM in the country, who with her healing touch coupled with the sheer administrative acumen and a dedicated scientific-minded team, guided her people through this most difficult time,” the website says.
“The community with all the members is completely devoted to serve the Government of Maa-Mati-Manush in Bengal voluntarily and also spread the vision and achievements of Mamata Banerjee to each corner of the country,” the website adds.
