This edition is all about celebrating & saluting these doctors, medical professionals, and healthcare workers who have selflessly led the fight against Covid-19 and shall also delve deep into discussions on India’s next big challenge – implementation of the national vaccination drive & preparedness for the 3rd Wave.
Every year, July 1 is celebrated as National Doctors’ Day by the Indian Medical Association (IMA). The day is observed to commemorate the birth and death anniversary of former Bengal’s Chief Minister Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy.
The day is dedicated to all the doctors and healthcare workers who have been serving the people by risking their lives. The COVID-19 pandemic has once again reminded us about the contributions and sacrifices made by doctors and healthcare workers around the globe.

Third Wave Not Far Away If We Lower Our Shields
While speaking to ABP News, Dr Monika Langeh of the Emergency Medicine said that the Spanish flu which broke in India few years ago, had four waves.
She also said that the second wave came and caused several deaths as few people became careless. She also alerted that as the lockdowns in several states have started ending gradually and people continue to remain careless, third wave might also hit the country.
Langeh also underlined the fact that people should get vaccinated at the earliest possible.

Veteran Actor Shatrughan Singha joined the ABP India vs Corona 3.0 e-conclave and salute the medical professionals and health workers on National Doctor's day. Shatrughan Sinha hailed the doctors for their relentless work during the Covid pandemic. He also said that the motive of the government to vaccinate the country looks good but it lacks the implementation on the ground. Shatrughan Sinha who has been the former health minister of India said that it is not only the govt's duty to protect us from the virus but Covid appropriate behavior by the people will stand as a pillar against the pandemic and will give strength to the doctors and nurses as well. So it is very necessary to wear masks, follow social distancing and other Covid guidelines.

Dr Buddhiraja further said that the biggest mistake of India was thinking that we have won against Covid and we won't hit by the second wave so this time we should assume that someday India will experience the third Covid wave and we should prepare our infrastructure, facilities, and policies accordingly. He said that we should prepare for the peak, not the plateau.

Dr Sandeep Buddhiraja from Max hospital said that this a fight between human and virus and as we are trying to adjust and find a new normal to survive, Covid is also changing its behaviour looking for survival. Dr Buddhuraja said that as witnessed in the last 200 years there are two ways to fight against it first is vaccination and the second is her immunity. he said that if major population in the world is infected or vaccinated then we can still reach a point of an epidemic stage, else it is not possible.

When asked whether children are really at risk of being most at risk of the third wave, Dr. Sanjay Rai, based on the serosurvey conducted in India, the previous waves have infected children as much as adults. However, children either showed no symptoms or very mild symptoms which is why many assume that the third wave would be very dangerous for children but that's not the case. People who haven't been infected with the virus till now are at risk of getting the infection whether they are children or adults said.
