‘Pakistan Is Responsible’: India Calls Ceasefire Violation ‘Extremely Condemnable’, Demands Swift Action
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that Pakistan was responsible for breaching the ceasefire understanding after multiple violations were reported from across Jammu and Kashmir.
Just hours after India and Pakistan announced a mutual agreement to end ongoing military action, multiple violations were reported from across Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday night, triggering strong retaliatory action by the Indian armed forces. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Saturday stated that Pakistan was responsible for breaching the ceasefire understanding.
“An understanding was reached this evening between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan to stop the military action that was going on for the last few days. For the last few hours, this understanding has been violated by Pakistan. The Indian Army is retaliating and dealing with this border intrusion. This intrusion is extremely condemnable, and Pakistan is responsible for it. We believe that Pakistan should understand this situation properly and take appropriate action immediately to stop this intrusion,” he said.

Misri further noted that, “We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and handle the situation with seriousness and responsibility. The Armed Forces are maintaining a strong vigil on the situation and have been given strict instructions to respond firmly to any repetition of border violations along the international border as well as the line of control.”
According to central government sources, Pakistan violated the bilateral understanding—reached earlier in the afternoon—to halt all firings and military activity on land, air and sea.
Drones Sighted In Jammu-Kashmir, CM Omar Abdullah Says 'Explosions Heard Across Srinagar'
Despite the announcement, drones were reportedly spotted at various locations across Jammu and Kashmir late Saturday. The armed forces responded swiftly, activating the air defence mechanism and shooting down multiple drones.
In Srinagar, a drone hovering near the Batwara area—close to an army installation—was brought down by security forces, following which a series of explosions shook the city. Blasts were reportedly heard at 15-minute intervals, lighting up the night sky with flares.
Officials also confirmed a drone was detected over Baramulla town in north Kashmir around 8.20 pm and was neutralised by the anti-drone system. Another drone was brought down at the Anantnag high ground near a military facility. Additional drone sightings were reported from Verinag in Anantnag district as well as Bandipora and Safapora, with more details awaited.
Amid the ongoing developments, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took to social media to express his concerns over the ceasefire breach. “This is no ceasefire. The air defence units in the middle of Srinagar just opened up,” he posted on X. In another post, he wrote, “What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!”
Security agencies remain on high alert, and officials continue to monitor the situation closely.
