Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS, 9th May, Sunday: With Covid-19 cases surging across the country, Union health minister Harsh Vardhan said that 1.34% of the patients were in intensive care units, with 0.39% on ventilators. Around 3.70% of the Covid-19 patients were on oxygen support, the government’s data has revealed.

Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS, 9th May, Sunday: The Supreme Court has set up a National Task Force (NTF) to streamline oxygen allocation to states across the country, a move that comes in the midst of the second wave of the coronavirus disease that has stressed the health care sector and sent the demand for medical oxygen among Covid-19 patients soaring.

Several states, including Delhi, have complained of a crippling shortage of medical oxygen with reports of deaths due to its non-availability coming in from different parts.

Seven cases of the Indian variant of coronavirus have been found in the UK's Bedfordshire county, hours after health officials here elevated the subtype from under investigation to a Variant of Concern (VOC) amidst a rise in the number of cases in the country and evidence of community transmission.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a European Council (EU) meeting as a special invitee via video-conference on Saturday with leaders of the 27-member bloc pledging support to India, which is reeling from a devastating second wave of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Israel sending rapid testing team of experts to India to tackle Covid crisis

Israel Ambassador to India Ron Malka on Sunday said that Israel is sending teams of experts to India. For example, we're going to send a team for rapid testing, & a team to develop very easy producing oxygen concentrators. India has remarkable manufacturing capabilities.

Puducherry CM Rangasamy Tests Positive For Covid-19 Two Days After Taking Oath

Two days after taking oath as Chief Minister of Puducherry, N Rangasamy on Sunday tested positive for coronavirus. As per the early inputs, Rangasamy is stable and preferred to get treatment at a private hospital in Chennai.
