'Hindutva & ISIS Not Same, But Similar': Salman Khurshid Amidst Book Controversy
"It seems that some people are trying to defame Hinduism. They are enemies of Hinduism and are afraid that their truth will come out," he adds.
New Delhi: Amidst the controversy that erupted after the book, titled ‘Sunrise Over Ayodhya: Nationhood in Our Times’, author and Senior Congress leader, Salman Khurshid, said that he never called Hindutva and ISIS as 'same', but rather, called it 'similar' in his book.
Speaking to news agency ANI at an event at Kalki Dham in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, Salman Khurshid said, "It seems that some people are trying to defame Hinduism. They are enemies of Hinduism and are afraid that their truth will come out. They will ban any book which reveals their truth."
I didn't say that they are same (ISIS & Hindutva). I've said they are similar. I've also said that ISIS and Boko Haram misuse the religion of Islam but no Islamic followers opposed it. Former Union Minister's book regarding the Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya was published last week. In the book, while exploring the Ayodhya verdict by the apex court, Khurshid compared Hindutva with radical terrorist organisations such as Boko Haram and ISIS thus leading to the controversy.
Meanwhile, two Delhi lawyers on Thursday filled an injunction suit before the Delhi High Court seeking the prohibition on the publication, circulation and promotion of the book, alleging that it hurts the sentiments of a larger section of the society.
