Light To Heavy Showers And Thunderstorm In Many States: Check Out The IMD Forecast For Next 5 Days

On June 6, Thursday, isolated hailstorms are likely over Uttarakhand and Himachal. On June 6 and 7, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, UP and Rajasthan are expected to experience light rain, gusty winds.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall with lightning, thunderstorms, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) over the next five days in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Tripura, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, according to a Hindustan Times report on the weatherman's latest bulletin.

A cyclonic circulation over Assam and strong winds from the Bay of Bengal, the report says, are expected to influence the weather in the northeastern states.

Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast for Assam, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Meghalaya, and Sikkim from June 6 to 10. Arunachal Pradesh is likely to experience heavy rainfall from June 8-10, and Nagaland on June 10.

For the next five days, the IMD has also forecast fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) in Goa & Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Saurashtra, Marathwada & Kutch, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, and Karnataka. Similar weather conditions are expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala from June 6 to 8.

The forecast comes days after the Southwest Monsoon set in over Kerala and advanced to northeast India.

From June 6 to 10, the IMD has said, there is a possibility of isolated, intense rainfall in Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada. June 6-9 is likely to bring heavy rain to interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe; from June 8-10 to coastal Karnataka; from June 6-7 to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry; June 6-10 to coastal Andhra Pradesh; June 6-10 to Telangana; and also from June 6-7 to Rayalaseema.

Over the next two to three days, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal will also experience isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) due to a cyclonic circulation over northwest Madhya Pradesh that is connected to a trough that extends to West Bengal. Similarly, over the next four to five days, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh are expected to experience these conditions.

From June 6 to 8, there is a possibility of isolated hailstorms and squally winds (50–60 kmph) over West Madhya Pradesh. Over the next five days, strong winds (25–35 kmph) are expected over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. From June 6-8, heavy rainfall is forecast in certain areas of Odisha, and on June 9-10, in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

The northwest plains are being impacted by a Western Disturbance that is characterised by a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and a trough in the middle tropospheric westerlies.

For Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, the IMD has forecast scattered to fairly widespread light rainfall on June 6 and 7, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph).

On June 6, isolated hailstorms are likely over Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. On June 6 and 7, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan are expected to experience light rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph).

On June 6, dust storms are expected in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, and, in Rajasthan, on June 6 and 7. An isolated hailstorm is very likely over West Rajasthan on June 7.
