Heatwave Warnings: UP To Simmer For Two Days, Hot Conditions To Continue In West Bengal & Bihar — Check IMD Prediction

Heatwave conditions have been prevailing in isolated pockets of the Gangetic West Bengal for the last six days, coastal Andhra Pradesh for four days, and Bihar for three days.

New Delhi: India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that heat wave conditions are likely to continue in parts of east India during the next four days and the northwest region of the country over the next two days.

Punjab, Haryana, and parts of Uttar Pradesh may see heatwave conditions over the next two days. 

The Gangetic West Bengal and Bihar may experience heatwave conditions for four days on the trot. Sikkim, Odisha, and Jharkhand may also experience heatwave conditions over the next two to three days.

Maximum temperatures are also expected to rise over east, central, and south India. "Heat wave conditions are very likely in isolated/some pockets over Gangetic West Bengal and Bihar during next 4 days; over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim & Odisha during next 2 days and over Jharkhand on 18th & 19th April," the weather agency stated.

Similarly, "Heat wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana on 17th; over West Uttar Pradesh on 18th; over East Uttar Pradesh on 18th & 19th April and abate thereafter," the IMD said in its press release.

Heatwave conditions have been prevailing in isolated pockets of the Gangetic West Bengal for the last six days, coastal Andhra Pradesh for four days, and Bihar for three days, it said.

Meanwhile, the Met Office said that rainfall with thunderstorms is likely over Western Himalayan Region between April 17 and 20 and over the plains of northwest India on April 18 and 19.

"Heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan & Muzaffarabad on 18th; over Himachal Pradesh on 18th & 19th and over Uttarakhand on 19th April," the IMD said. Isolated Hailstorms are expected over Himachal Pradesh on Monday and Tuesday. 

Similar weather conditions are expected to prevail over Uttarakhand between April 18 and 20.

Meanwhile, light isolated rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is likely over parts of Maharashtra during the next five days.
 
According to IMD, in the northwest region, Maximum Temperatures are likely to rise by two to three degree Celsius during the next three days and fall by two to three degree Celsius during the subsequent two days.
 
Meanwhile, a rise in maximum temperatures by about two degree Celsius is predicted over Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, and Telangana during the next five days. Heatwave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during the next three days.
 
Over Maharashtra, a rise in maximum temperatures by two to three degree Celsius is predicted during the next three days.

Earlier this month, the Met office predicted above-normal maximum temperatures for most parts of the country from April to June, except parts of the northwest and the peninsular regions.

Above-normal heat wave days are expected in most parts of central, east, and northwest India during this period.
