PM Dropped Our Issues Of Pegasus, COVID, Inflation: LoP Mallikarjun Kharge On PM Modi's RS Speech

On Tuesday, Kharge, along with other Congress MPs walked out of Parliament during PM Modi’s address saying that he was only accusing the party instead of responding to the President’s address.

New Delhi: The Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Rajya Sabha and senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech delivered in the upper house on Tuesday.

“If you hate Congress, Gandhi Ji, Nehru Ji, or Rahul Ji, say all that outside Parliament," Targeting PM Modi, Kharge said.

"He (PM Modi) dropped our issues of Pegasus, COVID, inflation, etc...We weren't even born when Congress fought & won independence. He misused his motion of thanks and left his principles,” Kharge told news agency ANI.

On Tuesday, Kharge, along with other Congress MPs walked out of Parliament during the PM Modi’s address saying that the Prime Minister was only accusing the party instead of responding to the President’s address for which the motion of thanks is kept.

“He was only targeting the Congress party. Instead of speaking on schemes and concerns of members enumerated in the House during the debate, the prime minister was only speaking about the Congress… Those who worship Mahatma Gandhi Ji’s assassin are now telling us that the Congress should be dissolved,” he was quoted as saying by the news agency PTI.

During his address in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, PM Modi said: “It was said here, 'Congress na hoti, toh kya hota'. It's a result of the thinking, 'India is Indira, Indira is India.' I think 'Congress na hoti, toh kya hota' because Mahatma Gandhi wanted. He knew what would happen if they continued to be and he wanted to disband them beforehand.”

In response to his attacks, other Congress leaders also presented arguments outside the Parliament. Randeep Surjewala, in a tweet thread, said, “The Congress is there and that is why Babasaheb’s constitution is there, dreams of freedom fighters are coming true, Bapu’s thoughts and ideals are alive, nuclear power and the technological revolution is there.”
