Nuh Violence: 202 Arrested, 102 Cases Registered, Police Say Probe Shows No Mastermind So Far — Top Points

Nuh SP Narendra Singh Bijarnia said so far, the investigation has suggested involvement of different people, who are being identified and arrested.

New Delhi: As many as 202 people have been arrested and 80 were taken into preventive detention in connection with Nuh violence, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij said on Friday, reported news agency PTI. The minister further said a total of 102 FIRs have been registered so far. Meanwhile, a senior police officer said the probe so far shows there was no mastermind behind the clashes that broke out between two groups after stones were hurled during a religious procession earlier this week.

The police officer’s remarks were in contradiction to minister Vij’s conjecture as per which there was someone who must have incited violence. "Somebody masterminded it but I don’t want to reach any conclusions. We will investigate this and every single person responsible will be brought to justice," Vij said on Tuesday.

Here are the key updates:

  • Nuh SP Narendra Singh Bijarnia said so far, the investigation has suggested involvement of different people, who are being identified and arrested. Addressing a press conference, Bijarnia said, "No mischievous elements will be spared. Encroachment reports of buildings from where stones were pelted are also being prepared. Action will be taken against them according to rules."
  • Speaking at the same press conference, Deputy Commissioner Prashant Panwar said no untoward incident has been reported from Nuh over the last four days and the situation was limping back to normal. "As part of the process of restoring peace in the area, the district administration has held meetings with the peace committees of different areas of the district. Members of the committee have fully assured that they will not allow any kind of tension to arise in the area. As situation is now returning to normal, resumption of internet services is also being considered. Soon a positive decision will be taken on the basis of the intelligence report,” Panwar said.
  • Speaking to the media, Haryana minister Anil Vij said he suspects the violence was pre-planned. “It is a big game plan … every person had a lathi in his hand. Were these being distributed for free? Someone must have arranged these. Bullets were being fired. From where did weapons come …? We will go to the depth of the matter, PTI quoted Vij as saying. He further assured the culprits won’t be spared.
  • Meanwhile, some unidentified miscreants allegedly vandalised a shop in Panipat which was located near the house of a man killed in Nuh violence, PTI reported. According to locals, the act was carried out by someone who wanted to “vitiate the peaceful” ambience.
  • Three motorcycles were set ablaze in Pataudi area of Gurugram, PTI reported. Sporadic incidents of arson have been reported from Pataudi since the clashes broke out in Nuh on Monday.
