Haryana | 4 Terror Suspects Caught With Explosives In Karnal, Pak-Based Man Asked Them To Transit Arms: Police

Karnal Police detained four terror suspects while recovering a large cache of explosives. As per the police, they were directed to drop arms and ammunition at Adilabad, Telangana.

New Delhi: In a major development, four terror suspects were caught with a huge cache of explosives in Haryana's Karnal city on Thursday. The police received credible intelligence input about the four identified as Gurpreet, Amandeep, Parminder, and Bhupinder. Superintendent of Police, Karnal informed that the accused were in touch with a Pakistan-based man who asked them to drop arms and ammunition at Adilabad, Telangana. The four terror suspects, hailing from Ferozepur and Ludhiana, were held while they were transiting via Haryana.

"On credible intelligence input, four terror suspects including three belonging to Ferozepur, and one from Ludhiana detained near Bastara toll plaza. Explosives were recovered from them along with other arms and ammunition. Accused identified as Gurpreet, Amandeep Parminder, and Bhupinder," SP Karnal informed, as quoted by news agency ANI.

He further informed that the accused were in touch with a Pak-based man who asked them to drop arms and ammunition at Adilabad, Telangana. "Accused Gurpreet received explosives sent from across the border using a drone in Ferozepur dist. Earlier, they dropped explosives at Nanded. FIR registered," the official stated.

Karnal Range Inspector General of Police, Satender Kumar informed that the accused will be produced before a court and taken on police remand after which they will be questioned in detail.

"Three containers suspected to contain RDX, firearm, a pistol, and 31 round live cartridges have been seized from the vehicle," he added, as quoted by news agency PTI.

Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that the police are conducting a thorough investigation: "The accused were caught with explosives as they were transiting via Haryana. Police are conducting a thorough investigation."

An FIR has been registered under sections 13, 18, and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, sections 4 and 5 under the Explosive Substances Act, 1908, and section 25 under the Arms Act, 1959, Haryana Police stated, as reported by ANI.
