'Happened In Another Country Too, But India Took Swift Action': Korean Woman Molested In Mumbai

The South Korean who was molested during a live stream in Mumbai has praised the police for their prompt action.

The South Korean woman who was harassed on a Mumbai street has praised the Mumbai Police for its swift action on the harassment incident. The police arrested two men on Thursday for molesting the woman during a live stream on a Mumbai street on Tuesday.

“Such things happened to me in another country too. But at that time, I couldn't do anything to call the police. In India, the action is being taken very quickly. I've been in Mumbai for over 3 weeks and am planning to stay longer,” she said.

She said that she did not want this one incident to ruin her experience in India. “I don't want this one bad incident to ruin my whole travel. My passion is to show the wonderful country that India is,” she said.

Both the accused have been arrested and were sent to one-day police custody after production in court on Thursday.

The shocking incident came to notice after a Twitter user shared a video of a Korean woman being harassed by two boys in Khar while she was live streaming on a busy street. The entire incident was captured on her camera.

In the video, a boy can be seen interacting with the woman and asking her age. He then grips the woman's hands and pulls her while she asks 'where are we going?' The boy asks her to sit on his two-wheeler to which she says no.

The clip has been tweeted by a Twitter user who also tagged Mumbai police requesting to act against these perpetrators. The user wrote, "A streamer from Korea was harassed by these boys in Khar last night while she was live streaming in front of a 1000+ people. This is disgusting and some action needs to be taken against them. This cannot go unpunished.”

The boy keeps forcing the foreigner to which she replies she can't sit. The harasser then tells her to sit with him the next time and she says 'tomorrow'. While she tries to get away from him, the boy tries to kiss her which shocks the Korean woman after which she shouts and leaves.

In the later part of the video, the woman says 'time to go home' with shock and utter disappointment. But the boys do not stop here. They come again while the woman is walking and ask her to sit on their vehicle. She can be seen saying 'No' repeatedly and telling them that her home is nearby and she would go by herself.

Reacting to the tweet, Mumbai police replies to the user to share his details via Direct Message.
