New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his former school teacher, during a one-day visit to Gujarat, in Navsari town on Friday, news agency PTI reported. Arriving in the state to inaugurate Nirali Multi-speciality Hospital, PM Modi spent some time with his former school teacher Jagdish Nayak from Vadnagar. A photo of their meeting on the hospital premises has gone viral on social media.
According to the PTI report, 88-year-old Nayak, who now lives at Vyara in Tapi district and shuns publicity, taught PM Modi when the latter lived with his family in Vadnagar town of Mehsana district.
"Though it was a short meeting, I do not have words to describe how I felt. His respect and feelings for me have not changed all these years," PTI quoted Nayak as saying at his residence in Vyara.
Later, his grandson Parth Nayak told the news agency that he called the PMO as his grandfather wanted to meet the prime minister.
"My grandfather wanted to meet Modi ji during his Navsari visit, so I called the PMO yesterday and sought an appointment. To my surprise, the PM called me back and talked with us. He is so humble and down to earth. I also met him today and learnt so many things from him," PTI quoted Parth as saying.
Notably, PM Modi inaugurated AM Naik Healthcare Complex and Nirali Multi Speciality Hospital at Navsari on Friday.
“During the last 8 years, we have emphasised on a holistic approach to improving the health sector of the country. We have tried to modernise the treatment facilities and also focussed on topics related to better nutrition, clean lifestyle & preventive health,” PM Modi said during a public address.
The prime minister also inaugurated the headquarters of the Indian Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) in Ahmedabad later in the day.
"Soon we will bring a new policy to encourage Ease of Doing Business in the space sector. We have initiated reforms in space sector and opened it up for private sector," PM Modi said.
It is to be noted that IN-SPACe has been set up to promote private investment and innovation in the space sector.
"I am hopeful that like in the IT sector, our industry will also take the lead in the global space sector," PM Modi further said.
