Gujarat CM To ABP Asmita: 'Tablighi Jamaat Attendees From Gujarat Will Face Strict Action', Says Vijay Rupani

Gujarat CM also said that those who attended Tablighi Markaz event in New Delhi's Nizamuddin area would be identified soon and will be sent for quarantine.

Gandhinagar: Despite the number of positive cases and deaths related to deadly Coronavirus continue to rise significantly across the country, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Wednesday claimed that India is well-prepared to handle the medical pandemic compared to other developed countries of the world. Rupani's statement came soon after the number of Covid-19 positive cases in Gujarat surged past 80-mark on Wednesday. While speaking exclusively to ABP News, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said that even his state is ready to tackle the situation and the government has already installed 6,000 beds for patients. Rupani also informed that that medical staff are already on standby with at least 100 beds and ICUs ready in every district. While speaking to ABP News further, Gujarat CM further said that those who attended Tablighi Markaz event in New Delhi's Nizamuddin area would be identified soon and will be sent for quarantine. Terming the issue as serious offense, Rupani said that a list is being prepared and all those from Gujarat who attended the event despite a nationwide lockdown would be detained.

WATCH | Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani On Delhi's Tablighi Jamaat Event The BJP leader informed that free essential goods for a month to 3.25 crore ration card holders belonging to the poor families in the state will be given in view of the present Coronavirus crisis and the 21-day lockdown across the country. Earlier, Gujarat CM had said that even the migrant labourers who don't have ration cards would also be provided grain from April 4 under the 'Anna Bhram' scheme. The district administration have prepared a list of all such labourers. He had also said 'Shibir Shades' would be set up across the state to shelter and feed them. Rs 40 crore has been allocated from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) fund for it. With 13 new cases, the number of coronavirus positive cases in Gujarat rose to 87 on Wednesday, a senior health department official said. A 57-year-old COVID-19 patient was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday after recovery, taking the count of such patients to seven. According to reports, as many as three patients are on ventilator and in critical condition, while the condition of 71 others is stable. So far, seven patients have been discharged, while six have died due to the infection. As per news agency PTI, the number of locally transmitted cases rose to 46, while the number of patients with history of travel abroad went up to 33.  Eight patients in the state had a history of inter- state travel, the state health department said. Till now, 1,726 samples have been tested in Gujarat, of which 87 have been found to be COVID-19 positive, 1,628 turned negative, while the results of 11 others are awaited, it added.
