Umesh, who had received Covaxin shots for the first dose, was administered Covishield vaccine instead of Covaxin.

The country completed the 'Tika Utsav' on Wednesday with a record number of vaccinations. A huge number of people came forward took to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. While the country administered 33 Lakh vaccinations in the last 24 hours, a major goof-up in a vaccination centre in UP has shocked everyone. A man in the Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh was allegedly administered shots of two different Covid vaccines.

As soon as Umesh realized the incident, he along with some more villagers raised the issue which turned into chaos. The administrative officers immediately reached the spot to speak to Umesh and calmed him down. Umesh said that he is the driver of Gaurav Singh Sogarwal, CDO of Maharajganj and he was administered the first dose of Covacin on February 25.

Umesh further said that he was scheduled to take the second jab on March 25 but due to some unforeseen circumstances it got delayed. He reached the vaccination centre on Tuesday, 13th April to take the second dose where he was administered with Covishield. Umesh was terrified to know what had happened and registered a complaint to the higher authorities.

Medical officer Doctor Atul Srivastava who was present at the spot said that there will be no side effects if the man has been administered 2 different vaccines.

It is pertinent to note that according to the guidelines of the Health Ministery of India, both the doses of vaccine should be of the same brand. Though, at the present time, Oxford University has published a report stating that mixing of vaccines might increase the immunity of a person against the Coronavirus.
