'Noob' Remark Draws BJP, Cong Into Slanging Match As PM Modi Takes Dig At 'Political Opponent'

Prime Minister Modi's comment sparked a flurry of memes on social media, with BJP leaders seizing the opportunity to mock the Opposition, sparking a political debate.

New Delhi: During his interaction with India's leading gamers on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was introduced to gaming jargons "grind," which, the gamers explained as synonymous with "working hard." Another term discussed was "noob," referring to a novice player lacking skill or knowledge in gaming.

At this gaming terminology, PM Modi couldn't contain his laughter and took a subtle jab at Rahul Gandhi while not naming him, quipping, "If I were to use this term during elections, people might speculate about who I am referring to. If I say this, you might assume it for a particular person."

However, the prime minister's comment sparked a flurry of memes on social media, with BJP leaders seizing the opportunity to mock the Opposition, sparking a political debate.

Though PM Modi refrained from naming anyone, his reference triggered a political slugfest, with Congress leader Pramod Tiwari criticising the prime minister's remark.

"I don't know who he is talking about but he is talking about an Opposition member. Talking about someone who is educated at top universities... These are just political tactics of the BJP around the elections. This will backfire," PTI quoted Tiwari as saying.

BJP's Shehzad Poonawalla took a dig at the Congress, suggesting that the Opposition leader's response to PM Modi's comment revealed who truly lacks political acumen.

Taking to X, he posted a video where he said, “PM Narendra Modi did not name anybody but why are Congress leaders reacting and confirming 'ki Rajniti ka Noob kaun hai' (who is the noob in politics). It is confirmed that even when no names are named, they know who is the biggest noob in politics. It’s a confirmation about what they also know but can’t speak about openly.”

Bollywood actor and BJP candidate from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, shared a clip of PM Modi's interaction with the gamers, and asked, "Who is this Noob?"

Meanwhile, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh asserted that the entire nation is aware of the biggest "noob" in the Opposition camp.

"There are many princes and princesses in the (I.N.D.I.A) alliance who do not know anything about the ground realities, have no idea about the problems of the country, and do not even know anything about the country. These leaders, who studied in five-star culture and seven-star schools and colleges, have landed in helicopters. There are many noobs in the alliance but you must know who the biggest noob is. The country also knows who the biggest noob is,” PTI quoted Chugh as saying.
