Special Trains Ticket Booking: The 392 special trains will operate from Kolkata, Varanasi, Lucknow, Patna among other locations to deliver on the rising demand due to upcoming festivals such as Durga Puja, Dussehra, Diwali and Chhatt Puja.

New Delhi: In order to meet the festive season rush, Indian Railways have started running 392 festival special trains. These special trains proposals from Zonal Railways' proposal  were approved by the Ministry of Railways for operation of 196 pairs of Festival Special trains.It is important to note that these trains will remain operated till November 30. Besides, the fare applicable in these trains will be that applicable for special trains. Also Read: Good News! After 7 Months, Women Finally Allowed To Travel In Mumbai Locals From Today; Know 6 Things “To clear the festive rush, Ministry of Railways has approved 196 pairs (392 trains) of “Festival Special" services over Indian Railways to be operated from 20th October 2020 and 30th November 2020. The fare for these Festival Special services shall be that applicable for special trains. Zonal Railways will notify their schedule well in advance," the ministry had informed on October 13. The fares of these trains will be similar to those applicable for special trains, which means 'special charges' will be levied making the tickets a bit expensive by 10-30 per cent as compared to the fares of mail/express trains, depending on the class of travel. What are the destinations covered? These special trains will cover destinations such as Kolkata, Patna, Varanasi, Lucknow among others to meet the rising demand, especially due to upcoming festivals such as Durga Puja, Dussehra, Diwali and Chhatt puja. In an order issued, the Railway Board said these festival special trains will be operated at a speed of 55 kmph. The railways has already started operations of over 300 express/mail trains which are now running regularly.
