Covid Second Wave: States & Cities Where Lockdown Or Night Curfews Have Been Imposed In India
Night curfew and lockdowns have been imposed in various parts of the country as a measure to curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus. During the second wave, India is seeing a rapid surge in cases. The total active cases in India now stands at 11,08,087.
India recorded the highest single-day spike on Sunday with1,52,879 new Covid-19 cases now the total active cases are the total active cases in India now stands at 11,08,087. As per data from the union health ministry, the total number of infections reached 1,33,58,805 including 1,20,81,443 recoveries and 1,69,275 deaths.
In a bid to tackle the Covid crisis, different state government have imposed night curfews and lockdowns.

Here's a state-wise list of restrictions imposed:
Maharashtra: Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Sunday said that a decision regarding imposing a lockdown in Maharashtra in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases will be taken after April 14th. The Maharashtra Government had earlier imposed a weekend lockdown in the state beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday till 7 a.m. on Monday besides other restrictions, which will continue till April 30th.
Uttar Pradesh: Mathura is added to the list of night curfews imposed in UP, the Mathura district administration has imposed the curfew from 9 pm to 6 am every day, till further orders, District Magistrate (DM) Navneet Singh Chahal said. All education institutes have been shut down until April 30th, the Yogi government has also put a restriction on the number of people allowed at a religious place at a time to less than 5. According to media reports, a night curfew has been imposed in Lucknow, Kanpur, and Varanasi with effect from 9 pm to 6 am till April 30th.
Meerut - 10 pm to 5 am till April 18th
Ghaziabad - 10 pm to 5 am till April 17th
Noida - 10 pm to 5 am till April 17th
Kanpur - 10 pm to 6 am till April 30th
Prayagraj - 10 pm to 8 am till April 20th
Bareilly - 9 pm to 6 am till April 20th
Moradabad - 10 pm to 6 am till April 16th
Agra -10 pm to 6 am till April 20th
Delhi: On Saturday, the Delhi government issued new guidelines for the coming days, prohibiting all social, political, sports, entertainment, cultural and religious gatherings till further order. According to the order by Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), public transportation like DTC and cluster buses, Delhi Metro will work at 50 per cent capacity. All cinemas, theatres and multiplexes will be permitted to open with up to 50 per cent of their seating capacity. Delhi government has imposed a night curfew, from 10 pm to 5 am, till April 30. The Delhi government on Friday announced that all schools will be shut given the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the national capital.
Madhya Pradesh: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister has announced a lockdown for the weekend in the urban areas of the state from 6 pm on Friday to 6 am on Monday. On Sunday, the Jabalpur administration imposed a night curfew in view of the rising cases. According to reports, Lockdown is in force in Indore city, Rau, Mhow, Shajapur, Ujjain, Barwani, Rajgarh, and Vidisha. PTI report quoted Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Rajesh Rajora as saying "Lockdown will be in force in Indore city, Rau, Mhow, Shajapur city and some districts like Ujjain, Barwani, Rajgarh and Vidisha till 6 am on April 19." Lockdown will be in force from April 12 till the morning of April 22 in Balaghat, Narsinghpur and Seoni districts as well as Jabalpur city, and orders under section 144 of CrPC will be issued by respective collectors soon, Rajora added.
Jammu & Kashmir: Night curfew has been imposed in urban areas of eight districts (Jammu, Srinagar, Udhampur, Baramulla, Kathua, Anantnag, Budgam, Kupwara) from 10 pm to 6 am. The authorities on Sunday ordered that all schools in the union territory will remain closed for another week i.e. until April 18th.
Punjab: The Punjab government has imposed a state-wide night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am till April 30th.
Rajasthan: The Rajasthan Government on Friday announced night curfew in ten cities till April 30th in wake of the spike in COVID-19 cases. While nine cities will have restrictions from 8 pm to 6 am, night curfew in Udaipur will be imposed from 6 pm to 6 am.
Odisha: Night curfew has been imposed from 10 pm to 5 am in Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri since April 5th.
Gujarat: Gujarat Government has ordered to close offline classes in all government and private colleges across the state till April 30th. Earlier, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani-led government, following the Gujarat High Court’s instructions, decided to impose a night curfew in 20 cities of the state between 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. He further said that only up to 100 people would be allowed at weddings, adding grand events have been postponed until April 30.
