Four arrested in Delhi Police recruitment scam

New Delhi:  Four persons, including three Delhi Police constables, have been arrested for allegedly using forged certificates to get job in the police force, a senior official said on Friday. With the arrests, the Crime Branch have exposed a scam and busted a gang that was involved recruitment in Delhi Police and other government departments, said Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch). Complainant Amit Kumar had alleged that the gang took Rs 12 lakh from 10 candidates for recruitment in Delhi Police in 2012. He had alleged that gang members had arranged fake marksheets, fake driving licenses and other documents for the recruits. It was also alleged that some of the candidates of his native village were selected in Delhi Police in the 2012 and 2013 by using fake marksheets and with the help of the gang who also arranged persons who impersonated and solved papers in the place of the original candidates. Working on the case, Crime Branch team arrested three Delhi Police constables Ashok, Vijay and Vinod Chhikara on August 10 and later one more accused Mohit, who worked in a Biometric company, was also arrested, the officer said. During interrogation, the accused admitted that they had got jobs in Delhi Police with the forged documents. Accused Vinod has said that Mohit was employed with a biometric company that was involved in the recruitment process and had provided stamp and hand bands to the candidates appearing in the examination without getting their finger print scanned, he said. The case is being investigated to unearth the complete scam and to find out how many more candidates got recruited through forged documents and cheating, the officer added.
