Former Maharashtra ATS chief Himanshu Roy kills self, suicide note recovered
Roy had headed the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and also worked as the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime).

NEW DELHI: Former Maharashtra ATS Chief and Additional Director General of Police Himanshu Roy, who exposed the IPL spot-fixing scandal, committed suicide on Friday. Police said a suicide note was recovered from his residence, in which Himanshu said he is taking this extreme step due to his prolonged illness. He was suffering from cancer and undergoing treatment for the disease.

Former Mumbai police commissioner M N Singh termed him a courageous and hardworking officer. "He was suffering from cancer but he was fighting it. It is very unfortunate that he had to end his life like this," Singh was quoted by PTI as saying.
