Incidents of forest fires in parts of Jammu and Kashmir have been on the rise this summer season. A forest fire raged in the Pingar forest area of Udhampur.

Meanwhile on Wednesday, a huge fire broke out in the Tota Gali area of the Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir. Forest officials upon receiving information rushed to the site and started fire-fighting operations. On the same day, a fire also broke out in the Kandli forest area in the Rajouri district.
A devastating fire has been raging in the Kaldi forest Area, under the Udhampur Forest Division in Jammu and Kashmir for the past few days, causing immense damage to the region's wildlife and vegetation.
According to ANI, the fire spread uncontrollably and reached the roadside which caused damage to forest resources, with a large number of trees and plants reduced to ashes.
Kaldi forest area is home to a significant population of peacocks, and the fire has undoubtedly caused harm to these magnificent birds.
In another incident, a 75-year-old woman was burnt alive in a forest fire in Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur district, police said on Friday, as reported by news agency PTI. The deceased has been identified as Nikki Devi, a resident of village Bagaitu in Hamirpur.
Devi tried to extinguish the forest fire that had reached her fields but soon got caught in it and was burnt alive. The body has been handed over to the family after postmortem. This is the second death due to forest fire in Hamirpur district in 15 days. On May 29, a woman died of asphyxiation after a forest fire in Chakmoh area.
