Fire Breaks Out In LIC Building In Mumbai, Officials Say Data Center Safe
According to the official statement of the Life Insurance Corporation of India, the blaze erupted around 7 am on the second floor of the building.
New Delhi : A fire broke out in a Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) office building in Mumbai early Saturday morning. As soon as the incident was reported, eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire at the ground plus two-storey structure located on S V Road in Vile Parle west, reported news agency ANI.
According to the official statement of the Life Insurance Corporation of India, the blaze erupted around 7 am on the second floor of the building, which houses the divisional office of the company.
"A fire broke out at around 6.40 a.m in the LIC’s Jeevan Seva building, Santacruz(W) which houses our SSS Divisional office. It was restricted to the 2nd floor of the building," read the statement.
No casualties or major damage to property was reported as the fire was confined to certain section of the building.
"The fire is confined to electric wiring, installation, computers, file records, wooden furniture, etc. in Salary Saving Scheme section on 2nd floor of ground plus upper two-floored LIC Office building. Three small hose lines of 8 motor pumps are in operation," said Mumbai fire officials, reported ANI.

Meanwhile, the LIC assured people that its data center which is housed nearby the building is safe and all precautionary measures have been taken.
"All our critical IT assets for providing service to customers have adequate Disaster Recovery set up in place. Hence there would not be any problem in providing services to customers," read the official statement of the company.
