The fire broke out on a container cargo merchant vessel about 102 nautical miles southwest of Goa, according to news agency ANI. The blaze is currently being tackled by two Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ships that have been dispatched from Goa. Dramatic visuals show intense flames pouring from the container ship while the ICG ships work to extinguish the fire with water.

Indian Navy Rescues 8 Out Of 13 Indians Onboard Capsized Comoros Flagged Vessel Off Oman
In a separate maritime incident, the Indian Navy successfully rescued eight Indians and one Sri Lankan national from a Comoros-flagged oil tanker, MT Falcon Prestige, which capsized off the Oman coast, PTI reported on Thursday. The tanker, carrying a total crew of 16 including 13 Indians and three Sri Lankans, capsized around 25 nautical miles southeast of Ras Madrakah on July 15. The Maritime Security Centre of Oman reported that one crew member was found dead, though the deceased's nationality has not yet been disclosed.
The Indian Navy’s warship INS Teg, along with the long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft P-8I, has been actively involved in the search and rescue operations. The oil tanker was en route to the Yemeni port of Aden when it capsized near Oman's Duqm. The Indian embassy in Muscat confirmed ongoing coordination with Omani authorities for the continued search and rescue efforts.
