As Agitation Intensifies, Centre Invites Farm Leaders For Talks Today, 2 Days Ahead Of Scheduled Meet

In an exclusive talk with ABP News, Tomar said that farmers are being misled on the issue of Minimum Support Price, and asserted that the MSP system will stay.

Farmers Protest: As the ongoing protests of farmers against the contentious farm laws of the Centre continue to expand, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar invited the agitators for a meeting on Tuesday  at around 3 pm at Vigyan Bhawan.  Tomar had earlier invited the farmers leaders on December 3, but now, they have been called two days earlier on December 1. Also Read | MSP will stay: Narendra Singh Tomar in an exclusive chat with ABP News A release issued by the Agriculture Ministry on Monday stated that the leaders and representatives of farmer groups have been invited to attend a high-level meeting on Tuesday around 3 p.m. The development came a day after the protesting farmers rejected the Centre's offer to start talks as soon as they move to Burari and continued to stay put Singhu and Tikri borders of the national capital. Before the meeting with Centre, protesting farmers are planning to hold deliberations among themselves. "Keeping in view the cold and COVID-19, we have invited leaders of farmer unions for discussion much before the scheduled December 3 meeting," saying so Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar urged the farmers to end their stir. In an exclusive talk with ABP News, Tomar said that farmers are being misled on the issue of Minimum Support Price, and asserted that the MSP system will stay. The farmers' protest along the border of the national capital since November 26 has entered fifth day on Monday. The three new agricultural laws implemented by the Narendra Modi-led government include the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Simplification) Act 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Price Assurance and Agreement on Agricultural Services Act 2020 and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.
