The Samajwadi Party under its chief Akhilesh Yadav is slated to organise its signature tractor rally in the support of the ongoing farmers’ protest against the contentious farm laws of the centre.

Farmers' Protest: The farmers’ protest and the slated Bharat Bandh on December 8 has earned support of all major opposition parties.  Many regional outfits such as the Samajwadi Party, came out in strong support of the 'Bharat Bandh' on December 8 called by the farmer unions demanding the repeal of the agri-marketing laws. Kejriwal's visit to Singhu border protest site: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal will visit Singhu Border (Haryana-Delhi border) today where farmers' protest, against Centre's Farm Laws, entered 12th day. Other ministers of Delhi Govt will also accompany the CM. They'll inspect arrangements made by the UT Govt for farmers at the spot. Kejriwal is among the several opposition leaders who have extended support for "Bharat bandh". The Lucknow police however has denied the permission for rally and is making arrangements to block any such movement in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.  Yadav is planning to travel on a tractor from Thathia to Tirwa, covering almost 13 kilometres. "Under the BJP's rule, the farmers have faced injustice the most. The BJP is selling mandis and the farmers are not even getting the minimum support price of paddy. The prices of fertilisers and pesticides have gone up. The BJP government has shown an insensitive attitude towards farmers," the SP said in the statement. BSP extends support to farm laws Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supports the Bharat Bandh called by farmer Unions on December 8 over Farm Laws, tweeted party chief Mayawati. The decision came as other opposition parties came out in strong support of the 'Bharat Bandh' on December 8 called by farmer unions which have been protesting on Delhi's borders for 11 days demanding the repeal of the Centre's new agri-marketing laws. Two more JJP MLAs come out in support of farmers' agitation Trouble also seems to be brewing within the BJP's main coalition partner Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) in Haryana with two more out of its 10 legislators coming out openly to support the protesting farmers against new farm laws they say will destroy livelihoods. The legislators who posed a challenge to the just one-year-old post-election alliance government are Ram Kumar Gautam, the JJP's senior-most rebel, and Amarjeet Dhanda. Shiv Sena extends support to Bharat Band, issues public appeal The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, on Sunday extended its support to the 'Bharat Bandh' called on December 8 by farmer unions. Shiv Sena president and CM Uddhav Thackeray is against the Central laws which are anti-farmer and anti-labour. We support the Bharat bandh," Rajya Sabha MP Anil Desai was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. Farmers Protest: Prominent leaders including Congress president Sonia Gandhi, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, DMK chief M K Stalin and PAGD chairman Farooq Abdullah also issued a joint statement backing the proposed day-long strike and pressed the Centre to meet the legitimate demands of the protesters.
