Exclusive: New Security plan for PM Modi

Instead of two, now three CPG personal will carry the thin briefcase like ballistic shield to provide ballistic protection to the PM Modi to protect him in case of any attack like situation.

New Delhi: In view of the recent threats by alleged Maoist threats, security of SPG protectees including PM Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi's security plan was redrawn at a high level security meeting held in the cabinet secretariat. The security was reviewed after  fresh threat to PM Modi, SPG and intelligence agencies decided to tell PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi not hold impromptu road shows. Both will be asked to strictly adhere to the security plan drawn for their safety said an official, who is part of security. SPG officials will soon ask PM Modi not to overrule their advice which he has many a times in the past. SPG has no decided to go back to the old security plan to Modi by providing him body cover instead of shadow cover, which was started after the fiasco at the launch of Jandhan yojana at Vigyan Bhawan. After the threat to PM Modi from Naxals, the SPG has alerted the Close Protection Group or CPG, which is the innermost security cordon to provide body cover to the PM. Around 12 to 18 CPG commando will cover the PM in any public function. Instead of two, now three CPG personal will carry the thin briefcase like ballistic shield to provide ballistic protection to the PM Modi to protect him in case of any attack like situation. A top SPG officer told ABP News that the CPG shooters armed with latest close combat weapons can eliminate potential terrorists within seconds. As per security plan, the CPG is covered by the SPG’s also has a quick response team known as Counter Assault Team or CAT. The CAT is also armed with Close combat weapons to long range weapons. Both CPG and CAT have undergone rigorous training at different levels. The CAT is trained to takes swift action during any attack on the prime minister. They have also been briefed about the latest danger to the PM. Meanwhile, MHA is closely monitoring the investigation by the Maharashtra police into threat to the prime minister from Naxals. Since the investigations are at nascent stage a decision will be taken later if the matter needs to be probed by the NIA or not.
