The constantly dropping temperatures and visibility have forced people to stay indoors. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for cold and rain for the next few days.

Severe Cold In UP And Rajasthan

Severe cold day conditions prevailed in several parts of East Uttar Pradesh on Monday. Visibility was also below 50 metres. Dense fog has enveloped several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow. The IMD has forecast that fog and cold will persist till January 10 at least. The biting cold is also troubling people in Rajasthan. There is also the possibility of rain in Bikaner, Bharatpur, and Jaipur divisions between January 10 and 12.

The cold is expected to increase in Bihar due to strong westerly winds. The effect of dense fog will be seen in Patna, Gaya and other districts. The second spell of cold may start in Madhya Pradesh from today. Cold and fog are likely to increase in the north-western part of the state due to a weather system.

According to the IMD's latest bulletin, cold day to severe cold day conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh till January 8. "Cold day conditions very likely in isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh on January 9, Rajasthan on January 7," the IMD said.
