Republic Day 2022: Delhi Traffic Police Issues Advisory, Metro Services To Be Partially Curtailed
Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory so that people can plan ahead their travels and the parade can run smoothly, it is advised from people to expect traffic on January 26th.
New Delhi: A travel advisory has been issued by the Delhi Traffic Police for Republic Day to be held on January 26, 2022, the parade will start at 10:20 am from Vijay Chowk and proceed for Red Fort Grounds.
Traffic routes have been changed and an elaborate plan has been drawn to make sure the parade runs smoothly.

Road Traffic:
Movement on certain roads will be restricted to facilitate the smooth passage of the Parade. Traffic on Rajpath from Vijay Chowk to India Gate from 6:00 pm on January 25 till Parade is over on January 26. Cross-traffic will not be allowed on Rajpath from 11:00 pm on January 25 at Rafi Marg, Janpath, Man Singh Road till the Parade is over. C’-Hexagon-India Gate will be closed for traffic from 2 am on January 26 till the Parade crosses Tilak Marg.
From 4:00 AM on January 26 traffic on Tilak Marg, BSZ Marg and Subhash Marg will not be allowed in both directions. Cross-traffic will only be allowed depending upon the movement of the Parade. Road users are requested to plan their journey in advance accordingly and avoid the route of Parade, from 2 am hours to 12:30 pm, for their own convenience.
North-South Corridor
Ring Road-Ashram Chowk-Sarai Kale Khan-IP Flyover-Rajghat-Ring Road. From Madarsa-Lodhi Road ‘T’ point-Aurobindo Marg-AIIMS Chowk-Ring Road-Dhaula Kuan-Vande Matram Marg-Shankar Road-Park Street or Mandir Marg.
East-West Corridor

For New Delhi Railway Station
From South Delhi: Dhaula Kuan-Vande Matram Marg-Panchkuian Road-Outer Circle Connaught Place-Chelmsford Road for Paharganj side or Minto Road-Bhavbhuti Marg for Ajmeri Gate side.
From East Delhi: Boulevard Road via ISBT Bridge-Rani Jhansi Flyover-R/A Jhandewalan-D.B. Gupta Road-Sheela Cinema Road-Paharganj Bridge and reach New Delhi Rly Station.
For Old Delhi Railway Station
From South Delhi: Ring Road-Ashram Chowk-Sarai Kale Khan-Ring Road-Rajghat-Ring Road-Chowk Yamuna Bazar-S.P. Mukherjee Marg-Chhatta Rail-Kauria Bridge and reach Old Delhi Rly. Station. While there is no restriction from north Delhi to these stations it is still advised to plan ahead expecting there might be traffic.
Metro Services:
The services of Delhi Metro will be partially curtailed on Republic Day as part of the security arrangements for the day as per the instructions of the Delhi Police. The services on Line-2 (HUDA City Centre - Samaypur Badli) of the Delhi Metro will be partially regulated on Wednesday. This is being done as part of the security arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations as per the instructions of the Delhi Police.
For the HUDA City Centre-Samaypur Badli metro route, the entry and exit at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan Metro stations will remain closed from the start of revenue services till noon. Central Secretariat station will only be used for the interchange of passengers between Line 2 and Line 6. Entry and exit at Patel Chowk and Lok Kalyan Marg Metro stations will remain closed from 8:45 AM to noon.
All metro parking lots will also remain closed from 6 AM on January 25 to 2 PM on January 26, 2022. This step has also been taken as part of the security arrangements. In view of the Beating Retreat Ceremony, on January 29, 2022, on the occasion of Beating Retreat, Metro services at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan Metro stations of Line 2 (HUDA City Centre-Samaypur Badli) will not be available from 2 PM to 6.30 PM. However, interchange of passengers from Line 2 to Line 6 (Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh) and vice versa will be allowed at Central Secretariat Metro station during this period. Normal services at these stations will be restored at 6:30 PM.
Ahead of the Republic day preparations, Rakesh Asthana, Delhi Police Commissioner said, "Intensified anti-terror measures are being taken for the last 2 months because Delhi is always a target. This year too we are alert. Over 20,000 forces deployed including DCPs, ACPs, Delhi Police commandos, CAPF commandos."
