Delhi Polls: ‘My Aim Is To Defeat Corruption,’ Kejriwal Tweets Ahead Of Filing Nomination

Kejriwal was scheduled to file his papers on Monday, but postponed it till Tuesday owing to the delay in his rally, wherein, hundreds of AAP supporters gathered.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister and the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party Arvind Kejriwal, on Tuesday, said while the aim of opposition parties is to defeat him in the upcoming polls, his aim is to beat corruption and take Delhi forward. Kejriwal is scheduled to file his nomination paper later today from the New Delhi assembly seat for the forthcoming polls. Today is the last day of filing papers. Ahead of the filing his nomination, Kejriwal tweeted: “On one hand - BJP, JD(U), LJP, JJP, Congress, RJD. On the other hand - school, hospital, water, electricity, free bus travel for women. My aim - to defeat corruption and take Delhi forward, their aim- to defeat me.” Kejriwal was scheduled to file his papers on Monday, but postponed it till Tuesday owing to the delay in his rally, wherein,  hundreds of AAP supporters gathered. Kejriwal said the nomination will now be filed on Tuesday, which is also the last day for the filing of nomination for the February 8 polls in Delhi. Before joining the mega road show, Kejriwal sought the blessings of his parents at his residence. "I love you", a visibly moved Kejriwal called out to his supporters as they walked with him from Valmiki Mandir near RK Ashram Marg metro station to the Hanuman Mandir near Connaught Place traversing around 2.2 kilometres in over two hours and dancing to the tunes of the party's anthem - 'Acche Beete Paanch Saal, Lage Raho Kejriwal'. Also Read: SAD Decides Not To Contest Polls; Cites Difference of Opinion With BJP On CAA The 'Walk With Kejriwal' roadshow was to be followed by the Delhi CM going to Jamnagar House to file his nomination papers, but owing to the delay in the rally, he was unable to reach the SDM office in time. Other than Aam Aadmi Party, parties like BJP, JD(U), LJP, Congress and RJD are fighting the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi. While the BJP is fighting in alliance with the JD(U) and LJP, the Congress is contesting in alliance with RJD. Delhi goes to polls on February 8.
