Delhi Liquor Policy Case: Court Summons All Accused In 2nd ED Charge Sheet, Sisodia Not Named

The supplementary charge sheet submitted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) did not name the deputy chief minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia.

The Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday took cognizance of the supplementary charge sheet submitted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Delhi's liquor policy scam and issued summons to all five accused in the case. The Court will hear the case on February 23, 2023.

The supplementary charge sheet submitted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has named Vijay Nair, Sharath Reddy, Binoy Babu, Abhishek Boinapalli, and Amit Arora. However, it did not name the deputy chief minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia.

The agency informed the court that further investigation is going on in the mater.

Earlier in January, the ED had filed a supplementary charge sheet against five individuals and seven companies before the Delhi Court. The report was filed before Special Judge M K Nagpal.

Following claims of anomalies, the 2021-22 policy has now been cancelled.

This is the federal investigative agency's second prosecution complaint (charge sheet) in this matter, lodged under several provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The initial application was made in November of last year.

According to reports, the current charge sheet names a total of 12 entities, including persons arrested by it in the case up to this point.

The money laundering case arises from a CBI FIR in which Sisodia, among others, was listed as an offender. Following the filing of the complaint, the CBI raided the offices of the deputy chief minister and certain Delhi government employees.

After the Delhi LG requested a CBI investigation into suspected anomalies in the execution of the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22, the excise plan came under scrutiny. In addition, the LG had suspended 11 excise officers.
