Delhi Hospitals To Display Availability Of Beds, Room Charges On LED Screens, Orders Lt Guv

New Delhi: In a bid to reinstate the collapsing healthcare condition in the national capital which stands as second worse-hit state in terms of Coronavirus cases, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal on Wednesday directed officials to ensure all hospital, clinics and nursing homes display availability of beds on LED boards outside their establishments. Many relatives of such Coronavirus patients claimed that despite having beds, several big government and private hospitals in Delhi denied admission. Taking cognizance of the matter, Delhi Lt Guv who is also the Chairperson of Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) directed all Chief Secretaries and authorities to make sure all hospitals and medical establishments display the availability of bed at entry points of their establishments. ALSO READ | '5.5 Lakh Corona Cases Expected By July 31, Will Need 80K Beds,' Says Sisodia In the order, Baijal said: "In order to increase transparency and to facilitate public, all major hospitals, clinics, nursing homes of Delhi should be directed to display on LED Boards in large letters outside their establishments, at the entry point itself, the availability of beds, (both Covid & non-Covid, wherever applicable), alongwith charges including rooms/beds and details of contact person for admission. Baijal also said that periodic surprise checks may also be conducted by the officers deputed by Delhi Disaster Management Authority to ensure that correct data is displayed by hospitals/ clinics/ nursing homes concerned and no eligible/ genuine patient is denied admission or overcharged. Over the past few days, social media has been flooded with videos and complaints of several hospitals in Delhi denying admission to Coronavirus patients citing unavailability of beds. Several instances of customers being overcharged also came to light. ABP News also conducted a ground reality check of the condition and found the claims to be true. Our reporters went to some leading government hospitals of Delhi where patients claimed that hospitals denied admission of serious Covid-19 patients citing unavailability of beds and in some cases they were asked to submit Coronavirus test reports to get admitted.
