Delhi: Final Year MBBS Student At Safdarjung Hospital Dies By 'Suicide', Handwritten Note Found, Say Police

New Delhi: A final year student of MBBS at Safdarjung Hospital here allegedly hanged herself in her hostel room, police said on Thursday, reported news agency PTI. The police post at the hospital received the information about the incident at 3:30 am on Thursday, they said as per the report by the news agency.
The student, a resident of Delhi, was residing at the Safdarjung Hospital’s MBBS Girls Hostel.
“We received a call at 3.30 am that a final year MBBS student committed suicide by hanging herself in her room at MBBS Girls Hostel, Safdarjung hospital. She was declared dead after she was taken to hospital,” said the Police official, quoted by news agency ANI.
Police reached the spot and found the final-year MBBS student, who was doing her internship at the Safdarjung Hospital, hanging by her neck with a scarf at a room in the MBBS Hostel, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Manoj C said.

As per the PTI report, the student’s room was locked from inside and her friends forcibly opened the door.
The student was taken to the emergency department of the hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. A handwritten suicide note was found in the diary of the deceased, police said.
Two empty packets of antidepressant medicine were also found inside the room, they said, adding that statements of her friends were recorded and no foul play is suspected.
The family members of the deceased had also reached the spot and their statements are being recorded. Further inquest proceedings are being carried out, police added.
