Delhi Excise Policy Case: AAP Leader Sanjay Singh 'Exposes' ED, Calls It 'Enforcing Dictatorship'

AAP leader Sanjay Singh in a press conference on Wednesday called ED a body that is 'Enforcing Dictatorship'.

In yet another development in the Delhi Excise Policy row, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh held a press conference on Wednesday in which he called Enforcement Directorate (ED) a body that is 'Enforcing Dictatorship'. He accused ED of making false cases under the pressure of the Central government and forcing people to give false statements. He cited examples of statements given in court by people who accused ED of taking false statements forcefully. He cited these cases to establish his claim that the proceedings against Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain are baseless.

Singh allegedly presented the medical records of Chandan Reddy, Arjun Pillai, and Sameer Mahendru among others while 'exposing' how ED is conducting its investigations.

Singh, while talking about Reddy's case, said that as per a statement in Delhi High Court, Reddy said that he was beaten up by ED officials to such an extent that his eardrums burst and then said that later his wife and parents were also threatened. Reddy said that he was forced to give a statement exactly the way ED wanted it to read. He added that the investigation body warned him that if he fails to write whatever they want in the statement, then they will leave his family in such a condition that he won't be able to show his face anywhere.

Singh further added that as per Reddy's statement in the High Court, he was beaten up by ED officials along with a few other people who didn't belong to the ED at all. The AAP leader asked who were these goons who were with the ED during an investigation.

He then cited the example of Arun Pillai who said that he was forced to give his statement. He further said that Sameer Mahendru gave it in writing in the court that he was forced to give a statement that ED wanted.

At last, he cited Raghav Reddy's statement who declared in court that he was pressurised by ED to take the names of political leaders in his statement.

Singh then alleged ED of threatening an accused during the investigation by saying "We won't let your daughter go to college."

He talked about Manish Sisodia's personal secretary who was allegedly called upon without following the mandatory procedures.

The AAP leader, towards the end of the conference, said that based on these documents from the court and the medical records, it can be proved that ED conducts investigations under the government's pressure and takes whatever statement they want from the suspects/accused.
