AAP’s Sanjay Singh, Others Detained Outside CBI Headquarters For Violation Of Prohibitory Orders

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was summoned by the CBI today at 11 am for questioning in connection with alleged irregularities in implementation of Delhi excise policy.

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh and other party workers were detained by the Delhi Police on Monday for violation of prohibitory orders amid Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The AAP workers were staging a protest in front of CBI headquarters here where Sisodia was being questioned in connection with alleged irregularities in the implementation of excise policy in the national capital.

The AAP workers alleged manhandling by the Delhi Police.

Sisodia was summoned by the federal probe agency today at 11 am for questioning in the Delhi liquor policy matter. Ahead of the questioning, the Deputy Chief Minister had alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party was preparing to arrest him in a fake case.

“They are preparing to arrest me by making a completely fake case against me. I was to go to Gujarat for the election campaign in the coming days. These people are losing Gujarat badly. Their purpose is to stop me from going to Gujarat election campaign,” Sisodia alleged.

“When I went to Gujarat, I told the people there that we will build wonderful schools like Delhi for your children in Gujarat too. People are very happy. But these people (BJP) do not want good schools to be built in Gujarat also, people of Gujarat should also study and progress,” he added.

The CBI had registered an FIR in this matter in August where Sisodia was named as accused number one and 14 others were also named in the report. Case was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 477A (falsification of records), and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act which deals with taking undue advantage to influence a public servant by corrupt or illegal means or by the exercise of personal influence.
