Delhi CM Kejriwal Says 'No Need To Panic', Urges Covid Recovered Patients To Donate Plasma

Delhi has been recording thousands of new Covid-19 cases daily. Till Sunday, 3,067 fatalities had been reported in the city.

New Delhi: The Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal addressed a virtual conference to discuss the ongoing situation of the state and how the national capital is battling with the increasing number of cases. The Delhi CM focused on the need for more plasma donors and said that Coronavirus cases have crossed 1 lakh mark in Delhi but there is no need to panic as around 72,000 people have also recovered. He said that the death rate has also come down. He said that there 5100 patients in total now in Delhi Hospitals. Mentioning the first plasma bank, he said that the trials have shown that plasma therapy can help moderate patients improve significantly. Kejriwal urges plasma donors to come forward The Delhi Chief Minister said, "The number of people who need plasma is more than those coming forward to donate it. I urge all those who are eligible to come forward and donate plasma. It will not cause any pain or weakness. Those donating plasma are doing selfless service to society." "Our team is calling up people requesting them to donate plasma, if you receive such a call please don't refuse. Hospitals should also give counseling to patients who have recovered and encourage them to donate plasma", Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal also requested the RWA to honour the plasma donors publically as they are doing selfless service to the society. During the virtual press conference, the Delhi CM also showed his telephonic conversation with a COVID patient, Karan, who has recovered from the disease and has come forward to donate his plasma which will help other people to recover. India's first plasma bank India’s first plasma bank for Covid-19 patients became operational in Delhi on Thursday. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal appealed to recovered Covid-19 patients to donate plasma and help those suffering from the infectious disease. “We are starting a plasma bank in Delhi. This is the first plasma bank in India for corona treatment. Eligibility Criteria for plasma donors

• Any Covid-19 patient, who recovered from the disease 14 days back, is eligible to donate plasma.
• The donor should weight at least 50 kgs and in an 18-60 age group.
• Women who have been pregnant even once in their lives cannot be donors.
• Cancer survivors, patients undergoing dialysis or who have hypertension or sugar imbalance cannot be donors.
• Call the Delhi govt on 1031 or WhatsApp on 8800007722. You will be registered. You will get a phone call and a doctor will speak to you to gauge the eligibility. If you are eligible for all parameters, a convenient time slot will be given to you to come to the hospital and donate plasma.

As informed by ICMR, Covid 19 tests in India crossed the 1 crore (10 million) mark. 1,00,04,101 tests conducted as of 11 am on Monday (July 6th). India has surpassed Russia to become the third worst hit nation by COVID 19.
